Welcome to our historically inspired range, The Titans! Introducing GAIA: In the ancient Greek pantheon Gaia was the ancestral Mother, and the personification of the Earth. Gaia was the mother of the twelve Titan Gods and Goddesses, as well as of Pontus (the sea), and Ouria (the mountains). As the Earth itself Gaia went under epithets such as 'Born Beautiful' and 'Giver of Gifts', and its hard to argue with that! Gaia was seen as the first Goddess, so its fitting that our 'Gaia' features natural turquoise, as turquoise; one of the first gems to be mined. Mined in Iran for at least two thousand years, it was used to cover the domes of palaces as its intense blue colour became a symbol of heaven on Earth. Turquoise is a beautifully varied stone in pattern and hue, and the spheres we use, as a much loved little one recently said to me, "look like little worlds". My greatest inspiration as a designer maker is the magic and mystery of the ancient classical world. My beaded 'Hera' collection was my first collection, and its wonderful to revisit the colour and legends of the Ancient Greek and Roman pantheons. Our 'Atlas' and 'Olympus' styles were the first, and we are so excited to be adding further Gods and Goddesses to the range. Our beautiful 'Gaia' earrings are made from solid brass, and semi precious turquoise spheres, in beautiful Cornwall. The brass is hand beaten on a series of anvils, the oldest of which is around 170 years old, giving a uniquely shimmering texture like no other. They are listed in both a gold plated French hook, or a gold plated stud version.
